Science Rendezvous mourns the 215 children found in an unmarked mass grave at the Kamloops Indian Residential School and stands with the many victims and families who were and continue to be impacted by Canada’s residential school system. We acknowledge the trauma this news imparts on many Indigenous members of our community across Canada, with the last residential school closing only in 1996

We send our condolences to the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc First Nations and stand with the Indigenous community in calls for Truth and Reconciliation, as well as reparations.

Science Rendezvous is committed to aligning research with, by or impacting Indigenous peoples with the best practices and policies identified through ongoing engagement with First Nations, Metis and Inuit Peoples and their organizations.

Please take time to learn about the residential schools, and to honour and remember the victims of the residential school system.
