High Altitude Balloon Experiment

Introduction

From 2013-2016 Science Rendezvous partnered with the University of Regina and First Nations University of Canada to develop the National High Altitude Balloon Experiment (HABEX) program (also known as S2SS2S) and in total 35 launches happened across the country at schools and Science Rendezvous events.

On April 20th, 2015 the Aurora Research Institute launched a high altitude weather balloon with a number of sensors and a high definition video camera on board. The video above is an edited version of the balloon's ~2.5 hour flight over the Mackenzie Delta, landing on Husky Lakes. Thank you to The University of Regina for the opportunity to participate in this project.
