Science Rendezvous Victoria

An In-Person Event
Science Rendezvous Victoria

Science Rendezvous Victoria – May 9, 2026!

Join us for a free day of exploration related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) — full of fun activities, exciting demos and interesting research! For K-12 students, educators and science enthusiasts of all ages.

This event is free and no registration is required.

Visit the schedule tab to view a full list of available activities. Here’s a small sampling!

  • Simulate particle collisions with water balloons and learn about the world’s largest camera, specially designed to take pictures of the smallest particles in the universe.
  • Take a look at what is happening inside your brain using mobile EEG devices.
  • Build and launch your own bottle rockets.
  • Bring your own sample and check it out under a microscope (we’ve got samples too!).
  • Test your knowledge of animals noises and communication–both those on land and in the water!

More information about the event, including a full schedule of activities, will be available in late April.

Accessibility

We are committed to making our event as accessible and barrier-free as possible. If you have any accessibility needs in order to participate in our event, please contact us at science@uvic.ca.

  • Building access: All UVic  buildings are accessible to people with differing mobility issues and mobility aids.
  • Distraction-reduced environment: Science Rendezvous Victoria will open at 9:30 a.m. and feature a distraction-reduced environment (quieter and less busy) from 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Respite space: For attendees who may need a break from the activities during the day, a respite space is available on the third floor of the Bob Wright Centre. A few self-serve quiet activities will be available.
  • Pet therapy: We are grateful to partner with the Pacific Animal Therapy Society to bring therapy dogs to the UVic location.
  • Transportation: Paid parking is available close to the venue (see below for details). The event is also accessible via bike and transit.
  • Washrooms: Accessible washrooms and all-gender washrooms are available.

Parking

Paid car parking is available near the event location. We’d recommend choosing to park in Parking Lot 1. A covered bike rack is available next to the Bob Wright Centre, close to Parking Lot 2, and additional bike racks are available near the Elliott and Petch Buildings.

Food

The Cove, our on-campus dining hall, will be open to event participants from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on May 9. Hot food is available from 7:30 – 9:30 and 11 – 2.

Photography and videography

We encourage participants to take pictures during Science Rendezvous and recommend you stop by our photo booth. Please tag us if posting on social media (@UVicScience on Instagram!)—we’d love to see your pictures!

Please note: The University will be taking pictures and video during the event to share on social media and use for future promotional materials. Please talk to a photographer/videographer if you do not wish to be in any promotional images.
