INVENTours & the Science Carnival

  • Dig up something cool with the Archaeology Centre: handle thousand-year-old artifacts, create cave paintings, and meet human ancestors! Look for our tent at the Science Carnival on St. George St.
  • Visit the stars with a Simulation Theater, daytime and evening telescope viewing and other activities by the Astronomy & Astrophysics Department. Click here for the Astro schedule 1:00 pm - 11:00 pm
  • Spool DNA, watch embryos develop in living colour, and marvel at an assortment of weird and wonderful plants and animals. All happening in the Cell & Systems Biology building at 25 Harbord St. 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
  • Make molecules dance! From a colour changing fountain to gummy bear fireworks and Goop for kids, prepare to be dazzled by the Chemistry department, outside and inside the Lash Miller building at 80 St. George St. Click here for Chem event details.
  • Take the eco-challenge with U of T Engineering. Workshops for students (grades K-12) will explore electricity to solar power, bugs to ecosystems and much, much more. Tours and demos for the "big kids" too! All starting in the tent in the Carnival on St. George Street.
  • The Great Rock Melting Experiment - The Geology department shows you how lava forms and you get to take a cooled chunk home! Click here for the Geology schedule. 2:30 - 4:00 pm
  • See the master of the optical illusion at the Institute for Optical Sciences. Tricks with lasers, a pinhole-camera truck and more! Click here for IOS event details.
  • Open House at the Faculty of Medicine. 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • See the coolest stuff in the universe! Get a grip on chaos! Continuous shows and tours in the Physics department, outside and inside the McLennan Physical Laboratories (60 St. George St.)
  • Test for lead in everyday products. Bring a toy, a dish or another item from home and we will test it for lead. Look for the booth at the Carnival tents.

There will be an on-site BBQ with food and drinks for sale, brought to you by Sammy's Student Exchange.

Featuring a keynote lecture by Canada's own Nobel Prize Laureate, John Polanyi. During the break time, enjoy a chance to "Meet A Scientist".

Tickets free at the door Pick up at Convocation Hall on your way into the lecture series of your choice. Tickets will be available for each of the two session.
